Free bookkeeping for Dutch freelancers and tradespeople — on your own PC

A bookkeeping app for Dutch freelancers (zzp'ers) that asks "what happened?" instead of "what do you want to book?". Quotes, invoices, receipts, bank and the VAT return, without needing to know anything about bookkeeping. Underneath runs a proper double-entry ledger based on the Dutch Reference Chart of Accounts (RGS).
Receipts and e-invoices are recognised and matched to the payment on the bank statement. The VAT return is shown in plain language, with checks up front for anything still missing. Trade-specific rules such as the 9% rate on labour and reverse-charge VAT for subcontractors are built in.
The app is always free, open source and runs locally on Windows and Linux: no account, no cloud. At year end one button produces a package for the accountant (XAF 3.2 audit file and the usual reports). The app itself is in Dutch and follows the Dutch tax system.

What's new
Recent improvements, newest first.
One button for an accountant package
September 2026One ZIP per financial year with the audit file (XAF 3.2), trial balance, ledger cards, open items, RGS mapping and every invoice and receipt, ready to import into the accountant's own software. Beforehand you see whether everything reconciles and which purchases still lack a receipt.
Trial balance and ledger cards in the app
September 2026A trial balance with a debit/credit check, ledger cards with a button to the source document, relation cards showing what is outstanding and a period balance per month or quarter — for yourself or your accountant.
Business share per supplier
September 2026Use something privately as well, like your phone or cloud storage? Set the business share per supplier. The private part doesn't count as a cost and its VAT isn't deducted; you see what changes first and confirm it yourself.
Mollie invoices and web shops without double revenue
September 2026Paid invoices from Mollie Invoicing are imported automatically, with customer and VAT. An order whose payment is already on the bank statement is matched to that line straight away, so revenue is never counted twice.
For Dutch freelancers and tradespeople who want to do their own books without becoming a bookkeeper, and for accountants who want a clean handover at year end instead of a shoebox.
